Who are they?
Citizens Advice Derbyshire Districts gives you free, confidential, impartial and independent advice and information on a wide range of subjects.
They speak up for change in social policies; from their clients' experiences they see where services and policies are failing.
They are a member of National Citizens Advice, which provides the extensive information system they use to advise clients and sets standards for advice, training, equal opportunities and accessibility to the service.
How it all started?
The partnership between Derbyshire Districts Citizens Advice and Neish Consultancy started in 2018 when Simon Richards, Acting Chief Officer and Melanie Mallinson, Senior Operations Manager attended a Taster Course put on in partnership with Erewash Partnership and Neish Consultancy Ltd.
What was the intervention
We provided 3 interventions for Derbyshire Districts Citizens Advice in 2019. These are the interventions and what people said about them: -
- Bespoke leadership training for their leadership team
“Overall the course was enjoyable and interesting on all subjects. The rate of the course was just right to keep me engaged”
“The group was encouraged to be engaging and the friendship and trust helped honest discussions”
“Really enjoyed the whole day. Well developed, very comfortable environment created by Shona”
- 6-month Developing Inspirational Leaders attended by their Senior Operations Manager
"I cannot recommend the DILPS course enough. My expectation of personal growth have certainly been exceeded. We were expertly led by Shona from Neish Consultancy through the tricky sometimes complex world of leadership and I am now equipped with my management tool bag of strategies to further develop my career.
Learning came from a mixture of discussion, debate, personal experience sharing and most definitely humour. Shona gave us the freedom to learn in a non-judgemental atmosphere. Her unique skill of coaching was invaluable. I would recommend this course for all levels. An absolute must for anyone hoping to develop leadership skills or for those leaders who need a chance to reflect and grow. An investment that is worth every penny."
- Improving our Communication session on their Away Day for Staff and Volunteers
“Fun, interactive session”
“Gave us the opportunity to give feedback on current practices”
“Well facilitated session that allowed us to input ideas for improvement”
What was the journey?
The Leadership found themselves using a new consistent language with each other that was fun to use and made people feel that any challenge was not personal. The Emotional Bank Account by Stephen Covey is a particular favourite.
A senior leader has developed her confidence and style and supports Neish Consultancy with referrals to others she believes will benefit from our interventions.
Great ideas and discussions were had about how to improve communications across the Citizens Advice Derbyshire Districts.
We have continued our relationship with Citizens Advice in 2020.
